"Mixed feelings. We started to have some issue in the previous stage so I couldn't push. I am not really happy about that but OK, we are here and happy about that. We only had one brake at the front. The team have missed out on a 1-2-3 a few times so it is good to do it finally."
"I can tell you that the pressure was very high in there! It was really good - a solid performance with no mistakes so that is the most important thing."
We could have been on the podium five or six times this year and between punctures, different issues and my mistakes we just hadn't got there. More of the same.
I tried very hard to be honest. I don't know if it's enough but I did the most I could without taking big risks. We were able to match the speed with Ott all weekend: we probably could have won but we got the puncture in Baumholder. Ott drove very well and he deserves the win - we are happy to be here.
Unfortunately we can't do anything about mechanical problems. We need to take the positives and that we have a competitive car on tarmac now. I am sad for the result but I am happy for the performance of all the team because they are doing a very good job with the car.

Puncture
"I had a clean day. Thierry has been pushing me really hard but in Panzerplatte we have been able to control it a bit better. It was really difficult to avoid everything but I did everything I could."
"I just lost the rear suddenly and had to spin the car to avoid hitting anything. The worst thing was that I touched a button and lost the gear lever for a few miles before I realised what had happened."
Yeah - front puncture. I think the whole rally has been disappointing and we didn't need this bad luck on top of it.
I just wanted to get to the end with no mistakes. I didn't think about the times so much. This is the game - it's about the endurance and not always about the performance on this stage.
It wasn't the intention - I just felt good. That's the best Baumholder I've ever done.
It's been alright - we have got through. I would like to be much faster than we are but we are working on it and it's not easy. Let's see for tomorrow.
It wasn't easy at all but we had such a bad opening pass that it was like doing a first pass once again. There's still a long way to go.
"We managed to improve the car on tarmac but this is a nightmare. I gave everything I could, it was a very clean stage but the time is rubbish."
I tried to do my best and I can't do much more. For me, it was nice and clean so let's see.

"A big day and I learned quite a lot. It was an amazing experience. In this stage I went very slowly because I could not get any more punctures."

"Not pushing really. It was a very clean run. There is a lot of loose stone so that is not nice but otherwise a good rhythm."

I stalled again so that didn't help. To be honest it's not a question of luck. We made some changes in service and it's a little bit better so we have to push in the long one.
It's okay. For Jari or me to finish second is the objective. Let's see what Seb does - that's the main thing.
Everything seems a bit better but there's still a long way to go. If I go too fast, just pull the handbrake and pop out the other side.
"We had an okay stage - quite easy to get a puncture in there so I tried to be a bit careful over the nasty places. A nice warm up for the next one, it will be a nice stage."
It's good. We had a good and relaxed run with no problems. It's better not to think about the fight too much and just focus on the driving.
It's really easy to get a puncture - it's like a lottery. There are many stones in the middle of the road. At the moment for us it's good - much better than the first pass.
It was better - I slowed down quite a lot on the jump. The car is handling a bit better than before but it's not ideal.
"It was much better. The dust was gone from the tarmac so grip levels were much higher. We need to get it through and maybe try for some powerstage points tomorrow."
At the very beginning - I don't know why we got a puncture but it was quite a big hit. It doesn't matter - it was from tarmac to tarmac. I will be very careful on the next one.

I don't know. It feels a little bit similar to on gravel where the rim is actually puncturing the tyre because there is no reason to puncture.
"It was a tough stage - not the perfect feeling but I guess it was the same for everyone. The beginning is very nice."

It's going to be difficult, we know that. I'm not saving anything we are just trying to go fast.
As soon as we came into it I couldn't get the car stopped on the first big braking point. That knocked the confidence, I really didn't how slippery it was going to be.
It's very difficult to see the grip because it is changing so much. We had a clean stage - the next one will be tough.
I didn't feel anything special so I am surprised with my time.
"Quite nervous after that but now I understand how difficult this is. The next one is more tricky so it is okay."
In some places it is really slippery with gravel on the top. At the beginning I didn't drive very well as I could feel the car move a lot. Now we have a really long stage and we will see what happens.
"We want to be sure that I have a chance to finish if we start to get punctures. We had a very heavily landing on the jumped - it was quite painful."

We try to go as fast as possible to enjoy the drive because that's why we are here. Hopefully can avoid a puncture in Baumholder this year.
"I thought it was okay. This stage was very good, I managed to get myself more relaxed and I was enjoying the driving. I think the time should remain good."
The guys at the front are making a difference but it's difficult to do without taking any big risks. My plan for the morning was to hold tight for Baumholder because in 41 kilometres anything can change.
It's a good stage for us - I am happy with that one.

It's not how we wanted the morning to go but thankfully we made the repairs so we can carry on to do Panzerplatte this afternoon - that's good.

It's quite a deceiving stage - there's not much in it but if you lose a little bit of time in the small junctions it adds up. It's going to be interesting.

I tried to adjust my driving a bit - basically just braking a little bit earlier. I still think it is more optimal to brake a little bit into the corner but we are not there at the moment. I wish we were in the fight at the front but that's how it is - we will keep on working.
I guess there is nothing comfortable when the fight is like it is. That's exactly as we expected - fast stages and small gaps.

I am really happy with the morning. We haven't taken any stupid risks but still we are doing really well. This one was quite slippy in the beginning because the hard tyres were cold.
We are trying to learn stage by stage. These are the first stages I am doing on tarmac with this car, so for sure we need to improve. It's not easy to fight the way it is now.
"I like this stage. We have to stay positive and move forward in the afternoon."
"Much better now, that felt much cleaner. For some reason, it takes me a while to get into it but once I am into it I can improve quite quickly."

We tried our best. One step at a time and the feeling was okay. I wasn't the best on this stage this afternoon so it was okay.

Our primary focus will be to conserve the championship and to keep an eye on the Hyundais. It's a bit like a grand prix practice this morning so there will only be a few tenths between us in here. The rally starts tomorrow.

I need to understand the car more and more - there is a specific technique for driving this car and it is not my usual way of driving. I am getting used to it and I will try to adapt."
